Hi, Jeff! I had no idea about the problems you had to play in Brazil, but I guarantee, you did a great job! I'm totally regretful for not being in Sao Paulo too, I'd love to see you singing with Glenn Hughes and singing disco music too. But now that I know how great you're on stage, I hope to see you many times in Brazil. Thanks for signing my DVD and pics. And I'm running to get everything you've recorded!

As the lights dimmed, you could almost feel the energy flowing off the stage and electrifying the crowd. Then with one swift punch… BAM!, Jeff Scott Soto and his band burst right into “Soul Divine.” This guy is a true front man in every sense of the word and man, can he sing his ass off!
With a career now approaching its third decade and a battery of material that would just about make James Brown cry, this veteran rocker sunk his claws deep into his archives performing songs like “Stand Up & Shout,” “21st Century,” “Colour My XTC,” “New Position” and “Drowning” representing past works ranging from TALISMAN to SOUL SIRKUS through his solo releases. He even graced the crowd with some new material he’s been working on with fellow singer/ song-writer Sam Grow who joined Soto on stage for a couple of new songs from Jeff’s upcoming solo release with the titles “Broken Man” and “Hey.”
A true highlight of the set was when Soto invited a long time influence of his, none other than the extraordinary Joe Lynn Turner, up on stage with him to perform the RAINBOW hit “Since You’ve Been Gone” which, truth be told, wasn’t even one of Joe’s songs! But what the Hell! After hearing them both perform it live together, it made you all but forget about Graham Bonnet who sang it originally with RAINBOW.
Then next up was a song that Jeff’s been doing for the past couple of years now… his version of the Seal hit “Crazy.” Another crowd pleaser and classy rendition which not only compliments the original, but the artist himself as well.
At this point, Soto slowed it down a bit (but not too much) with an acoustic medley consisting of such classic hits like “If This Is The End,” “Nobody Said It Was Easy,” “Purple Rain,” “Shed A Tear Goodbye,” “Send Her My Love” and “Gin And Tonic Sky.” This was just an incredible moment and really showed off Soto’s versatility and he tackled all different styles of vocalists.
Now this was funny. After the medley, Jeff and the band (looking for some audience participation) went into “I’ll Be Waiting” from the debut, self-titled TALISMAN release. But, just about half way through Soto stopped the song after realizing that not that many people knew the words! (Come on people!) But anyway, his guitarist Howie Simon simply looked at him at this point and said, “Plan B?” Just then the opening chords to “Separate Ways” began to resonate from the keyboard. Now THAT’S an audience participation song!
Finally Soto’s set ended with yet another medley! This one was quite plugged, though, and started off with some classic QUEEN and what just could be the rock & roll national anthem “We Will Rock You.” This led right into another rock anthem, Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock & Roll” but then the medley took a rather strange turn as it continued on with (now get this!) “Play That Funky Music,” “Brick House,” “Shake Your Booty,” “Kung-Fu Fighting,” “Macho Man,” “Stayin’ Alive” and finally ending with a reprise of “Play That Funky Music.” Yes, a bit odd but still, Soto and company actually pulled it off and moreover… plain and simple, it was fun for not only the musicians themselves but the audience as well.
Thank you,
Brian CEO of Rockeyez.com

On our way to the big MelodicRock.com 10th Anniversary Bash in South Bend, we were finally able to hit a local (well, the most local we could get anyway ) Jeff Scott Soto solo shows on this tour...
Brandy (R.C.I.T., 'Jon Chance' here) and I left Thursday morning to drive up to Buffalo, NY (about 7 hours) from my house in Staten Island to see The JSS Band play. We weren't in the club 5 min. before I turned around and found myself facing Jeff’s bassist, Gary Schutt. The band that was on at the time was incredibly loud, so we walked into the other room with him to chat (I hurt Gary’s poor ear trying to yell over the band -- so sorry, Gary! [Kieran, you must ask Brooke for me how he does that thing with his finger on someone’s ear to prevent that -- it really works! Oh, and tell him & Michael that Debbie from The Redspot says “hi!” ]). I had commented to Gary that I hope I could get through the night with the migraine that I had for the last 2 days (since the place was so loud -- God, I must be getting old... ). Gary was so sweet, he took us in the back to get me some ibuprophen (sp?). Thankfully, my headache was better by the time they went on. We were able to get right in the front row, right in front of Jeff... Hey, for all the driving we had to do to get to this show, I wasn't missin' a freakin' thing, damn it!
HOLY CRAP!!! The guys put on *one of the most fantastic shows that I had ever seen in my life*, regardless of the tiny stage they were forced to play on! My God, those guys are one of the tightest bands around and never seem to have a shortage of energy. They are all such incredible musicians. [Side Note: Warning to those in the front row -- Be prepared to be sweat on. ] We danced and jammed so much during the show that I was physically tired afterward… and it felt oh... so... good. So, that is what a Jeff show is like! Y-E-S ! Gimme s’more o’ dat!
Besides all of the friends of Dave's and Howie's (they're both from the Buffalo area) who joined them on stage for a few songs, the pleasant surprise of the evening for me was Sam Grow (tell him we love him, Pam!). We had missed his solo acoustic set at the beginning of the evening, but were able to catch him when he came back to join the band for “Hey” and “Broken Man”. His playing and voice were so soulful to me that I had to buy his CD and wish him much luck with his career. He was wonderful to talk to and very sweet. Little did I know I would see him at a party the next night and that he was to play with them at SB, too, on Saturday. Go, Sam!
We chatted with Rebecca (Happy Birthday, again!), Jeff, and Gary later on in the evening (uh, did I mention we fell head over heels in love with Gary that night??? ). Rebecca and Jeff seemed very happy to meet me (they both recognized my ID from the Andrew's Noticeboard). We're thinkin' that it meant they may have realized I wasn't a wacko and were probably a bit relieved. Especially, after telling them that we had to drive 7 hours just to see him! Jeff said I deserved a big hug. He really is just one of the guys. It's so nice to meet someone so immensely talented, yet so grounded. He made me and Brandy much bigger fans than we originally were -- if that is even possible. I was a fan way before the Journey thing, so getting to hear his solo, Talisman, and other project work was a huge treat for me. We also got pictures with Gary and Jeff.
The only downside to finally seeing Jeff's solo show is that now I know just what I've been missing all along, with no hope in sight for the next show. Damn it, Jeff, you need to come to NYC or NJ. I guess I'm going to have to make sure that I acquire every single DVD/video there is to be had. I know what I'm putting on my Christmas wish lists now, Jeff!
Debbie

Hey Jeff
I wanted to let you know I was so thrilled when I found out you were playing in the sf bay area- I saw you play in 1985 and have always been a fan of your voice. I was expecting a good performance from your band (at the Fox Theatre 9/05/07,but your band's performance completely blew me away!I've been going to concerts on a regular basis since the dawn of time and seriously- that was one of the best f**** performances I've ever seen. It was way beyond what I was expecting. I am so proud of where your at musically and I am proud to say I'm a fan your music. Kudos go out to your band especially Gary and Howie (didn't realize Howie has a pretty good set of pipes on him as well!). And what a treat it was seeing Dave Meniketti jamming up there with you guys (hey they usually do a New Years eve show in the bay area- any chance of you joining them for that??) Please come back to the bay area soon and next time you really need to sell shirts at your show (or at least put them on your website). Take care

9th October 2007 - Dan Wall at www.classicrockrevisited.com
Jeff Scott Soto Little Fox Theater, Redwood City, CA September 25, 2007 By Dan Wall Set 1: Mysterious, Soul Divine, Color My XTC, 21st Century, Drowning, New Position, Long Train Running, Hey, Stand Up and Shout. Set 2: If This is the End/Nobody Said It Was Easy/Purple Rain/Goodbye/Send Her My Love, Broken Man, Crazy, Black Tiger*, Mean Streak*, Summertime Girls*, I Want to Take You Higher, Separate Ways. *with Dave Meniketti Encore: I’ll Be Waiting, We Will Rock You/I Love Rock and Roll, Play That Funky Music/Jungle Boogie/Brick House/Kung Fu Fighting/Macho Man/Another One Bites the Dust/Stayin’ Alive. 2 hours. After reviewing a Soul Sirkus show on this site a few years back, I mentioned how happy I was that someone had finally given Jeff Scott Soto a chance to show off his immense talents in this country. Already a big name in Europe and other markets overseas, the one-time singer for Yngwie Malmsteen, Axel Rudi Pell and Talisman had finally moved into the big leagues here in America. And not long after that, he was brought up to the majors when he took the gig with Journey last summer. Now, everyone who likes classic rock was finding out what his most ardent fans already knew-that Soto was a force to be reckoned with, a great frontman with a voice that can whisper and roar, and possessing a back catalog of songs that rivals almost any other singer-even if you aren’t all that familiar with him. So why am I writing a review of now ex-Journey singer Soto’s show in an intimate club last week in Redwood City? Well, depending on whom you talk to, he didn’t get along with Jonathan Cain, said the wrong thing to the wrong people about the drummer Dean Castronovo, didn’t mesh with the band’s other songwriters or wanted too much money to front the band. Journey’s loss is certainly our gain, however, as Soto played his first-ever solo show in the Bay Area in front of his most devoted fans-and smoked the place. The set list was almost like a wish list to those gathered, as most of the crowd was hearing these songs live for the first time. Opening with Talisman’s “Mysterious” got everyone’s attention right away, and he followed that with more Talisman songs, solo highlights, a Soul Sirkus tune, a few well-placed covers and a funky encore of just about every great funk song ever written. Soto has a great personality, tremendous pipes and is a smooth frontman. His name is always mentioned when talk centers on the most underrated frontmen of the last 20 years, but until last year, only the most die-hard melodic rock fans knew who he was. He was always a great little secret, a guy who made great music alone and with a number of acts that barely sold any records at home, but made him a star elsewhere. That opinion has changed, but not enough to get more than a few hundred fans into a club on a Tuesday night. That’s too bad for those who couldn’t make it, since this was a fun time out. Soto sounded great, as always, and he brought along a tight, well-rehearsed band that played rock, funk and ballads with equal aplomb. Guitarist Howie Simon is a longtime Soto protégée that can play a simple riff and a ripping Van Halen-like lead with ease. Bassist Gary Schutt and drummer Dave Dzialak were rock solid all night, and everyone sings, which really brings out the best in Soto’s melodic material. The best song played was ‘Stand Up and Shout,” (you might remember it from Rock Star; it was written by Sammy Hagar) with Soto’s unreal voice hitting the intro and sending chills up and down my spine, but it wasn’t the only one. To let everyone know just what the rest of the Journey boys are missing, he aced both “Send Her My Love” and “Separate Ways,” and “I’ll Be Waiting,” an oldie from the Talisman playbook, was superb as well. Soto brought out Y& T guitarist Dave Meniketti for three of his band’s songs, and that little stunt took things up to a whole-nother-level (for the Mad TV fans in the house). Whether Soto becomes a star on his own or gets another chance at the big time is really up for debate right now, but if you like melodic rock music, you could do much worse than to search out anything that has this man’s name on it. First five cd’s to search out by Jeff Scott Soto Live at the Gods-solo Lost in the Translation-solo Talisman 1 Between the Walls-Axel Rudi Pell Humanimal And that’s just the start……..

Wow, I was blown away by your performance in South Bend. I ran over and bought the last CD available and will be getting the rest. The band was fantastic and you are now by far my favorite performer. I can't believe I haven't seen you perform since the Yngwie years, wow I have been missing a lot.
Keep Rocking,

Even with my broke toe, I forgot all about it and was jumping during their medley at the end of their performance. May have endured a stress fracture to the other toe too in the process but that's what the JSS Band does for me. Takes me to another plane of emotion.
Howie, you are an amazing performer and a pervert but dude, you rock! Next time we meet up you better bring the band aids!
Gary, you are precious in all ways!
Dave, I love to watch you perform. So dynamic on the drums!
There are just no words for the performance! It's a mastercard commercial, really . . . . priceless! My c/c may be on fire but it was well worth every dime spent.

Well folks - from everything I've read in here and on the notice board, I'm getting the feeling that everyone enjoyed the show as much as I did.
Jeff, Howie, Gary, and Dave simply did what they do best - put bands of this day and age to shame. I wish some of these current "hot" acts would go to a JSSB show - they might have to burn their instruments and go back to singing in karoke bars...
The entire show was incredible - JSS was, of course, the highlight for me as I've been waiting for years to see him preform HIS music live and they couldn't have impressed me more. And seeing JLT and JSS sharing the stage for a song was just simply amazing - I would have killed to hear them sing a Yngwie song or two together, but a duet on "Street of Dreams"? Who's gonna argue with that? )
The only thing I'm kinda bummed about was that I didn't get a chance to catch up to Jeff at the signing that he apparently did. Had I known that it was going on during the Chalfant set, I would have made a trip out to say "hi", but that would have been the only thing that would have taken me away from the KC set once it started. I've always liked The Storm, but I wasn't expecting his voice to be as clear and powerful live as it was. Ended up talking to him after the Scrap Metal set was over - very nice guy.
Also got the chance to briefly meet Howie and Gary - both of them are just as nice as they are talented, which says a lot.
Has anyone heard how the rest of the JSS shows were as far as attendance? I REALLY would like to think that Jeff will be back around again sometime in the next year or two...and if he pulled in some numbers at those shows, I'm thinking a return trip would be HIGHLY likely.
Thanks again Andrew for putting together ONE HELLUVA show! I don't think they could have squeezed any more talent on the stage during the last few songs of Scrap Metal. Talk about a line up of legends..... I hope you had as much fun as the rest of us did!

I was at MR.COM FEST yesterday. I was also backstage quite a bit and i must say first off ANDREW ROCKS! This guy deserves a boatload of thanks, beers, hugs and shit IMO just my 2 cents here boys n girls....EVERY artist on that bill owes him big-time for giving them a shot to sing in front of all those many mr rock fans not to mention many of those same people bought swag from these artists on the bill ...We fans and all artists allike owe Andy for this one!! you rock bro!
Jeff and his band put on a show like that has been described before. My buddy isn't a real big fan of his but he even says " he's not bad" and was midly impressed. Hey, different strokes for different folks but even a non-fan was entertained.
Personally, I think it was a very good set...Jeff works the crowd well..played keys on a couple of cuts and vocally he is really on man! This is not some studio magic singer who can't really pull it off. The band can sing n play well Gary and Simon are spot on and the drummer is also a monster...great band and Jeff def. thrilled me as he and Scrap Metal were a reason for going (and seeing Ramos with KC's band )
Good stuff and I'm def. gonna see them again. I like his Journey interpretations though not classically sounding like Perry or Augeri I am a fan of JSS doing some of these tunes...
One a side note: I need to get some Talisman albums as I do not own any and know little about them. What I know and heard though I luv...
DId I mention Jeff is one BIG mother fucker??? One of the biggest rockstars and latin guys I've ever seen! For a big dude he really moves around the stage well and knows how to be a rock n roll singer go see JSS band! I was hoping for another Soul Sirkus song or 2 as oppposed to ALL of those covers but they were fun just wish he'd cut out a couple n done another s.s. tune.
GO SEE JSS BAND NOW!

OK...other than knowing about JSS, owning and listening to some of his music, I was not sure what to expect. I started off the day by buying a copy of the Soul SirkUS CD/DVD (finally able to throw the burned copy out). JSS came to the merch stand and signed stuff and took pictures. He was a super cool guy. You could tell he was really appreciative of his fans, which is always nice to see. The performance rocked! Talk about a showman that looks like he is having fun. I knew many of the songs, and the ones I did not still sounded great. He played some great medleys as well. I am glad he was part of this Fest, and I will most definitely see him again when he is back in the Midwest.

It was worth driving to Cranston RI on a Wed night, getting no sleep, & only able to watch the Sox game on a little tv to witness what I did last night in the form of JSS..who put on one hell of a show!!!
His solo stuff is very up-tempo & polished & the guy can just flat out perform. He did a 70's Boogie Nights type medley (Macho Man King Fu Fighting Stayin Alive Shake Your Bootie), then did Purple Rain by Prince, Crazy by Seal, the guy just has killer range & can cover any genre of music. Also nailed Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. For us Yngwie fans he did I Am a Viking!!! Ended the night with a blistering Seperate Ways which would even make Steve Perry jump up & down like I was...
I just can't get over how good this guy really is...Schon/Cain are ego maniacs who should be ashamed of themseves for letting him go from Journey.
Also saw ZO2 & they were very cool as well...did a rush cover of Tom Sawyer which was just killer.
I'm going to sleep now...

Let me just say how awsome it was to see JSS and band (Gary and Howie) in La Platta Maryland on Oct 1, 2007. The venue may have been changed, but the intimacy of the show was great. Sounded amazing. Can not say enough about this guy. Best performer by far and to meet those after topped the show. Gary if you want your pick back, to bad..
Thanks and please come back this way soon.

I met a man from Tenessee who is a hard fan of yours, who just happened to be in Houston and found out about your gig. Hope Colby Scott hooked him up with you, because he has never met you, and was so proud of all his music collections....about you!

Watched you last nite at The Rock Yard - you were incredible, as always! Just so you know though, that place really is a hole. You seemed disappointed at the turnout - trust me honey, that is NOT Fort Worth on a Saturday nite! The ONLY reason I set foot in there at all was to see you. So please don't let that be what turns you off of us in the future! I did prefer last nite to the concert last summer, we were close enough to you to feel the sweat drip down when you shook your hair..... THATS what I live for!!!
By the way, I'm the blonde on your far left corner of the stage - the one who stole your water bottle after the encore when you switched to Grey Goose. I'll be posting the fan pics from last nite as soon as I get a chance. You rock hard - we love you! Hey everyone I just wanted to post that I went to the show in Houston Thursday night and it was the coolest experience!! Jeff and the guys made us all smile, sing and dance. I was so happy to be there! I especially was thrilled to meet Jeff after the show. I honestly thought I wouldn't get a chance to but I did! Wow, wow, wow!! Wonderful guy <3 I also met Gary who totally swept me off my feet, ha. It was my first time meeting them and I really hope not my last I feel I love them even more now. That was the best! They were all brilliant. I'd have given anything to have seen all 3 Texas gigs...I couldn't, damn. But it certainly made my September, since the whole month pretty much sucked for me. The night out couldn't have gone better!!!

Oh my....
Just got back from THE most fantastic night!!!!!!!
The venue was great and I was right up against the stage - Jeff is everything I remembered from last summer and more! He even leaned over and sang to me during "Separate Ways", takes photos like you are the only person in the room and just blew us all away.
The weird thing is we walked into the venue expecting a restaurant two hours before the show and walked right into the sound check! No one said a word so we got to see Jeff and Gary and David and Howie rehearse!
My friend came up from Oregon and we got to Redwood City four hours early just to make sure we were up front of the stage!
Jeff and the guys played for 200 people the same as they would play for 20,000.
PS - Do Gary a favor and buy his video compilations which are for sale after the show. He makes them dance and say "Buy Me". Really. He does! And he did not pay me to say that!
I'm too overwhelmed to post more but I will put up my photos when I get them.

Paladino’s - Tarzana, CA
Friday, September 21, 2007
The night started out by having a nice dinner and drinks at Charley G’s in
Sherman Oaks with my friend Melissa, her boyfriend and some of their
friends. We arrived at Paladino’s around 10:00pm and met up with the rest
of our party, already there. The first band had already started by the time
we arrived. Not a whole lot of people were there at that point, but we did
meet up with a few of the MR peeps. Debbie, Angela, Krista, Deb, Cindi,
Wendy, Cindy Poon, Deano, Eric Ragno, and others.
Jeff, Gary, Howie & Dave hit the stage around midnight. They came out with
the annoying intro that was used for the Talisman tour, (not one of my
favorites.) Then they launched right into “Stand Up & Shout”. The energy
in the room was unbelievable as Jeff commanded the stage from the very
start, like the true performer that he is. The band was tight and the sound
was pretty good, but I couldn't really tell considering I was practically
standing on the stage with them, as I was right up front literally, and was
hearing exactly what they were hearing, coming out of their monitors! At
one point Jeff kicked over my drink that was perched in front of me on the
edge of the stage. Note to self, keep alcohol away from Jeff’s big feet! :)
JSS and band plowed through their set like a freight train on steroids, with
a brief respite in the middle, of a dazzling piano medley by Jeff. Also
thrown in was a Boogie Knights Medley and a few of Jeff’s new tunes, which
was received by the crowd with thunderous applause and cheers. They really
went over well as Jeff and the band pulled them off nicely considering they
only had one day of rehearsal before the first show. During the piano
medley, I was taking pictures and video clips, when Gary came and stood
right in front of Jeff as he was playing the piano, blocking my view. Jeff
told Gary to get out of his way, and Gary actually moved so I could get the
shots. Nice guy, that Gary!!
The band has a great chemistry between them, which is evident by the good
time had by all. This is the first time I have seen the JSSB together in
this incarnation and it’s the one that I like best. Howie’s rendition of
the Doobie Brother’s “Long Train Running” was spot on. My only complaint
was the absence of the Yngwie Medley. I really wanted to hear that since it
is the next best thing to having JSS and Yngwie together again. Come on
Jeff, just ONE little YJM song for me,…. please!! :)
The venue wasn’t as full as I expected but the merchandise sold well and
everyone left happy. I heard many good compliments after the show. All and
all a great first show to kick off the JSS tour. I’m so glad I was there!!

i came home tonight at 8pm after all day on the road and in 2 airports to houseguests and then dinner out and 2 movies. it is 2:45am. there is no slepping in Rock and Roll.
what a blast. can I possibly convey?
the anticipation was a KILLER, the wait was UNBEARABLE, but the show was supernatural--an out of body experience. this guys really got it goin' on and they gave it all to the crowd. and there was plenty left for "us" afterwards.
it is an amazing and surreal thing to realize your dream and see it come to fruition. each player is super in his own right so that makes this a bonafide super group.
get thee to a show! don't miss this history in the making.
wow! I was stoked and still am! that much sound coming out of those guys. amazing.
Thanks to all my travel agents, babysitters, diet coke/ water fetchesr. the hugs were plentyiful from all!! band, fans, relatives, friends, spouses,---and not the fakey pat on the back twice hugs. all out grab and squeeze hugs. and a kiss here and there. nice
I gotta spill one--Color My XTC. dangit!

It was great meeting both of you Wendys and all the rest from MR! But will post more tomorrow, just got back to Canada and DESPERATELY need sleep. Awesome Saturday Night!!!
What a great show!!! The sound guy had some issues in the beginning. It didn't affect the sound, except when he figured it out, and almost blew poor Jeff's ear out. The new songs are fantastic. As of right now, I like them even more then the old solo stuff. I guess if Journey did anything for Jeff they gave him inspiration to write some great songs, and the strength to keep on living his life\m/ Wow, I forgot how good Gary was on that bass.
It was great getting to see all of my music friends!!! It was also such a pleasure finally getting to meet some of the people from these boards Now, I have faces for the posts:)
Hopefully Jeff will come back to OC and LA soon!!! Thanks to Jeff and the band for once again a great show!!! Hurry up and get the cd out!
Take care,

It was a great show...they all clearly have fun playing together & so did we. When Jeff started to sing, "Hey" I think I yelled out "yes!" - love that song. Howie has the prettiest sky blue Stratocaster (I don't know anything about guitars but this one was gorgeous). At the end of the show when Gary passed his bass over our heads to strum, I was surprised when he handed it like a baby over to Wendy's husband.
The show started at midnight & ended around 1:30 - which is fine if I didn't have an early morning upholstery class the next day! But, I made it & am now proudly sitting on my newly reupholstered office chair.
Enjoy the shows!

JSS, first night of the tour, Stupendous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just in the door from a stellar evening. Because of JSS's late start, I went to La Ve Lee in Studio City first, a few minutes into David Garfield's smoking set with his band Karizma, and featuring first call studio aces like Chad Wackerman on drums, Larry Klimas on Sax, Lenny Castro on Percussion and James Harrah on guitar. Instead of the usual 90 minute set, Garfield played well over two hours, and was still playing his incredible mix of latin, jazz, fusion and pop and randb when I had to excuse myself to get to Paladinos, a short 15 minute drive away. I get to my car, and realize I can't find my friggin ticket I bought off paypal for the JSS show. Damnit!!!!!!!! I almost crash as I drive through gigantic puddles on the freeway, (it's a huge downpour,) but arrive in my trusty escort safe. I get to the door, and thank god they let me in. I greet Todd and catch up on the latest with him and also Reggie who writes for Steve Lukather's site, then it's time for JSS. It's only the first show of the tour, but the band are tight and sounding like they've been on tour for months. I notice JSS's voice is much stronger than the previous Paladino's show three years ago I saw. What a great setlist that sees the band tear through smash Talisman hits, a Soul Sirkus song, a medley of ballads, Seperate Ways, and songs off JSS's solo albums including a few from Lost in the Translation. Gary's bass is loud and he plays great, the drums are locked in tight with Gary, and Howie is playing as great as always. The band ends the night with a cool 7 minute medley of funk classics like Brickhouse, Play that Funky Music, Jungle Boogie, Stayin Alive, etc... The band tried out several new numbers from the forthcoming JSS effort and I really dug those songs, it's gonna be a great album, (instead of the one I was hoping Journey would do with Jeff, he's going to do it on his own). Howie stepped up to the mic to sing Long Train Runnin from the Doobie Bros and he sang it great. The only setlist bummer was I could have done without Seperate Ways and really wanted to hear Believe off of Translation. Jeff is one of the best frontmen in rock, constantly moving and a consumate showman. Wow, this was a great night!!!!!!! Thumbs up guys!!!!
John

Hey Jeff and the boys,
Your show at Paladino's last night was fabulous! You all sounded incredible and We thoroughly enjoyed the show. I have followed you through the bands and I have your music in my soul and I can't stop singing it! I really enjoyed your ballad medley and the disco medley was a nice surprise. I am looking forward to your next CD to add to my collection of your work. I am going to the USC game tonite and if time permits I'll try to make it to the coachhouseto see you afterward!

Take care

FANTASTIC show last night in Cranston, RI !! You guys rocked the house. IT WAS FRIGGIN LOUD IN THERE. MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING.
Thanks for hooking me up with a little bit of "I Am A Viking". I was the guy screaming for Yngwie, Talisman, 'Stranded' & alike. Nice intimate venue..wish more turned out to support your amazing band. Nice mix of originals & covers. Best of luck with the remaining shows. Please come back again soon. How about doing a show in CT. Lots of great venues (Toad's Place in New Haven would be perfect!)
Peace in the Middle East,

Let me just say how awsome it was to see JSS and band (Gary and Howie) in La Platta Maryland on Oct 1, 2007. The venue may have been changed, but the intimacy of the show was great. Sounded amazing. Can not say enough about this guy. Best performer by far and to meet those after topped the show. Gary if you want your pick back, to bad..
Thanks and please come back this way soon.
Oh yeah get some t-shirts. Would have bought a couple.
A big big fan,
Leigh

You were awesome! I was with Colby Scott last Thursday at the Meridian, and I did not regret waiting for you that late (got to work the next morning, you know).
I met a man from Tenessee who is a hard fan of yours, who just happened to be in Houston and found out about your gig. Hope Colby Scott hooked him up with you, because he has never met you, and was so proud of all his music collections....about you!
I won't wanna miss the next one! See you soon

(By the way, I knew it was you tuning up - nobody believed me but I knew) Can't wait to see you next time!

Thanks to Howie for the set list. I lifted it from him after the show,
sorry! :)
The set list was as follows:
Stand Up/Colour My XTC
21st Century
Soul Divine/Mysterious
Broken Man
Drowning (short drum solo segue into….)
New Position
Long Train
Hey/Crazy
Acoustic Medley: If This Is The End, Nobody Said It Was Easy, Purple Rain,
Shed A Tear Goodbye, Send Her My Love, Gin & Tonic Sky
I’ll Be Waiting
I Wanna Take U Higher/Separate Ways
Encore: Funky Medley

i came home tonight at 8pm after all day on the road and in 2 airports to houseguests and then dinner out and 2 movies. it is 2:45am. there is no slepping in Rock and Roll.
what a blast. can I possibly convey?
the anticipation was a KILLER, the wait was UNBEARABLE, but the show was supernatural--an out of body experience. this guys really got it goin' on and they gave it all to the crowd. and there was plenty left for "us" afterwards.
it is an amazing and surreal thing to realize your dream and see it come to fruition. each player is super in his own right so that makes this a bonafide super group.
get thee to a show! don't miss this history in the making.
wow! I was stoked and still am! that much sound coming out of those guys. amazing.
Thanks to all my travel agents, babysitters, diet coke/ water fetchesr. the hugs were plentyiful from all!! band, fans, relatives, friends, spouses,---and not the fakey pat on the back twice hugs. all out grab and squeeze hugs. and a kiss here and there. nice
I gotta spill one--Color My XTC. dangit!
I must sleep or try to --more later...

Couldn't agree more!!!! GREAT shows, both Paladino's and Coach House! JSSB sure know how to put on a show, JSS dynamic as always and Gary, Howie, Dave just great! It was great meeting both of you Wendys and all the rest from MR! But will post more tomorrow, just got back to Canada and DESPERATELY need sleep. LOL, you'd think we were "Crazy for JSSB" or something.

Take care,
Tracie

I hope to see you in Southern California in the near future,

WOW! JSS rocked the house!! A brilliant showman, a true class act. It was also cool to hang out with my band and actually not be working for once!
The highlight was meeting the famous Dean! Great music, great people....great times!!
